Who were the ‘heroes of the skies’ and what did they achieve 100 years ago that was considered as remarkable a journey as the moon landing?

Visit the Heroes of the Skies exhibition and find out the answers, as you explore the objects, photographs, stories and interactive elements. There is something for all ages, including:

  • a closer looking trail -  follow the Vickers Vimy plane labels placed throughout the exhibition space. They are designed to slow you down, focus your attention and stimulate your senses to discover something new or unexpected.
  • designing and testing your very own paper plane and exploring the forces that help to keep a plane in flight
  • playing The Sir Ross Smith Aeroplane Race Game, a 100 year old board game re-created from the Library’s collection.

How do I get to the State Library by public transport?
